I love the Psalms! In the past when I have felt as though my world has been turned up side down God's Spirit has spoken to me through the Psalms. "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." (Psalm 46:1) "I lift up my eyes to the hills- from where will my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth." (Psalm 121:1-2) Psalms have also been the inspiration for a number of hymns that we find comforting during times like these. John Michael Talbot was inspired by Psalm 31 to compose "Father, I Put My Life In Your Hands". As we continue our journey though these changing times I encourage you to live in the Psalms and to listen to sacred music. Turn off the news and be feed by a Word that is life giving even in the darkest valley. Remember - God is ever present!
Let us pray: "Lord Christ, you came into the world as one of us, and suffered as we do. As we go through the trials of life, help us to realize that you are with us at all times and in all things; that we have no secrets from you; and that your loving grace enfolds us for eternity. In the security of your embrace we pray." Amen ELW, p. 84
